Several other applications, including Microsoft Visual Studio, at one time bundled an OEM version of Crystal Reports as a general purpose reporting tool.[1] Crystal Reports is a popular report writer, especially when Microsoft bundled it with Visual Studio versions 2003 through 2008. Microsoft discontinued this practice and later released their own competitive reporting tool, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 is still available as add-on software.</span><br /><br /><span id="intelliTxt"><b>History:</b> Terry Cunningham and the Cunningham Group originated the software in 1991. Crystal Services Inc. marketed the product (originally called "Quick Reports") when they couldn't find a suitable commercial report writer for their accounting software. After producing versions 1.0 through 3.0, Crystal Services was acquired in 1994 by Seagate Technology. Crystal Services was combined with Holistic Systems to form the Information Management Group of Seagate Software, which later rebranded as Crystal Decisions and produced versions 4.0 through 9.0. Crystal Decisions was acquired in December 2003 by Business Objects, which produced versions 10, 11 (XI) and version 12 (2008). SAP acquired Business Objects on October 8, 2007 and released Crystal Reports 2011 (version 14) on May 3, 2011. </span><br /><br /><span id="intelliTxt"><b>Report Designer:</b>  Crystal Reports allows users to graphically design data connection(s) and report layout. In the Database Expert, users can select and link tables from a wide variety of data sources, including Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Microsoft Access databases, Business Objects Enterprise business views, and local file system information. Fields from these tables can be placed on the report design surface, and can also be used in custom formulas, using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax, which are then placed on the design surface. Formulas can be evaluated at several phases during report generation as specified by the developer.</span><br /><span id="intelliTxt"><br />Both fields and formulas have a wide array of formatting options available, which can be applied absolutely or conditionally. Production of red blood cells (erythropoiesis) is initiated by a hormone produced by the kidney called <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">erythropoietin</i>. When a person’s hemoglobin level is below normal, his tissues will not receive an adequate supply of oxygen, and this will stimulate the kidneys to increase their production of erythropoietin. The increased erythropoietin will then stimulate the stem cells of the bone marrow to differentiate into the pronormoblast, and there will be an increased number of red blood cells produced. As the red cells are maturing they undergo several cellular divisions. Once the orthochromic normoblast stage is reached, however, the cell is no longer capable of mitosis but will continue to mature in the bone marrow. Serotonin (which may assist in vasoconstriction), and adenosine diphosphate (ADP), are released by the platelets. the ADP released by the platelets, and also by the injured tissues, causes the platelets to stick to one another (in vivo, this termed platelet cohesiveness; in vitro, this characteristic is known as platelet aggregation), forming a platelet plug.</span></span><br /><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Thrombin is generated, due to the presence of tissue thromboplastin (F.III) from the damage cells, and activation of the intrinsic system by collagen. The thrombin causes a denser, irreversible cohesion of the platelets. The platelets undergo disruption, releasing more ADP and a phospholipid termed platelet factor 3. This phospholipid is then free to act in the intrinsic coagulation system. The thrombin present is free to convert fibrinogen to fabrin, and this network stabilizes the already formed platelet plug. The protien, thrombasthenin, present in the platelets, further strengthens this hemostatic plug. In Vitro, this last step is termed clot retraction, and may be observed when blood is allowed to clot in tube.
